Pastor's Wives

Is there too much pressure today on the preacher's wife to be the "preacher's wife?"
Many churches have expectations in that regard, but has it gone too far?

  1. Is wrong for a husband (not just a pastor, but any husband) to have expectations of his wife and do his best to enforce them through strong words?

  2. Bro. Adrian, In some cases that may be so, but in my case Margaret would not have had it any other way than it is. I would say she is a model for a pastors wife

  3. Granted...many preacher's wives serve from the heart. I suppose some who think they have to do everything have put the pressure on themselves sometimes.

  4. Also, there are NO scriptural requirements of pastor's wives above that of any other Christian woman. The Bible does say something about deacon's wives, but not pastor's wives (except for those often ignored verses that say it would be just as well that a pastor IS NOT MARRIED.)

  5. CORRECTION: just as well that ALL were not married. Not just pastors, and not just men, but ALL.

As to "NO scriptural requirements of pastor's wives above that of any other Christian woman"...

You basically stated that the Bible gives no requirements to a pastor's wife other than being perfect like all Christians are commanded so to be (be ye holy, for I am holy... be ye perfect as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect... sin not... etc.) Aside from the requirement of all men and women everywhere, what more requirements could be possible?
