Michael Jackson And The Gospel?

Just when you think you have heard it all, one comes out of left field that makes you drop your jaw and mutter unintelligibly. Last Sunday a church (and I use that word loosely) had Michael Jackson Sunday. Here are the highlights (lowlights) of the message.

I.I'm Bad, I'm Bad, You Know It (Before I Met Christ)

II.Beat It (Jesus Beat Death)

III.Thriller (The Bible Is A Thriller, Your Life Is A Zombie Without It)

Mental images of this are funny, but the reality of it is not. Perhaps the brethren are right. Things are BAD.

  1. Just because we had michael jackson sunday doesn't mean we aren't a Church. lol...other possible sermons...

  4. I have not been able to escape all the press on him - but no mention of anything except a Jewish religious adviser. Churches need to have every Sunday Be A Jesus day and forget the rest.

  5. Amen to that....it is amazing that Iran & its demonstrations was the most important news story of the year...until MJ died. The media pulls America around by the nose, it seems.

  6. Out of curiosity, I did a little research on Michael Jackson's religion/religious background. It is kind of confusing, as it seems many want to claim him. I think the following is fact:

    1. His parents were Jehovah's Witnesses. So he was at least exposed to that, whether he was ever a "practicing" JW or not.
    2. For awhile he wore a red string bracelet which is worn by adherents of Kabbalah, some kind of mystical Jewish sect, whether he was ever a real believer of that or not.
    3. It was reported that he converted to Islam in 2008, whether he did or not. His brother Jermaine is a Muslim and seems to believe or hope that Michael was.

  7. In an interview with Larry King just a few days ago, I heard MJ's brother Jermaine say that "his brother has gone on to be with allah."
It seems as though the Jackson family is as confused with religion as the rest of the Hollywood/Entertainment establishment.
