I use to think they were stupid, but as I continue in my race I see why it is becoming important to learn more about someone before they are given the opportunity to fill the pulpit.
I don't blame a church for needing to find out about a man before he fills the pulpit, but I agree with Bro. Neal on this one. Aren't there other ways of checking him out?
I think churches should call every church a pastor has been at, and put most stock in the majority of those church's opinions. We should be able to trust sister churches. Or, you could even call his previous secular jobs and family, to see if he is generally a man who is reproached by those in the world or not.
